Lakers beat Spartan men

ESTHERVILLE — Iowa Lakes looks to replace Southwestern in the national ratings this week after defeating the Spartans 82-72 Saturday. The Lakers, ranked in the preseason, improved to 12-4 and 3-1 in conference play. Southwestern, No. 12 on the national Division II poll last week, slipped to 8-4 and 1-1 in the league. “We were up 15-8 and playing pretty well. Then similar to the Marshalltown game, we went into our lapse where we don’t play defense and miss free throws,” coach Jerry Drymon said. Southwestern rallied from a 13-point deficit to go in front by four points (62-58) with about seven minutes left, but couldn’t hang on as the Lakers finished with a 24-10 run. Southwestern was 14-of-23 in the second half at the line, and only 17-31 for the game. Terrance Morgan led the Spartans with 18 points and Tyler Raasch chipped in 15. Southwestern plays a makeup game at Mount Mercy JV in Cedar Rapids tonight. Starting school on Aug. 23, or earlier, is a good idea.
I agree, it prevents school from lasting too far into June.
I disagree, it is too early, especially if it starts before the end of the Iowa State Fair.
School should be year-round
