Spartan women drop two

Southwestern suffered a pair of setbacks — an 85-59 loss at Iowa Lakes on Saturday and an 88-78 defeat at home to Grand View’s JV on Monday. Monday night’s loss for the women’s basketball team was the fifth straight for the Spartans. CeCe Wright led the team with 22 points. “We weren’t in the game during the first half at all,” said Southwestern coach Buck Scheel. “We couldn’t play offense or defense, and in the second half we came out and started to play a little bit. We were playing from behind the entire game.” Southwestern trailed 35-27 at halftime, with the team having 22 turnovers in the game. The Spartans also had a halftime deficit in Saturday’s loss to Iowa Lakes, where the team was behind 55-23 at the break. “Tiffany (Troutwine) got her fourth foul with 10 minutes left in the first half. She didn’t play much in the first half and we couldn’t score for six minutes,” said Scheel. “We couldn’t get buckets to fall while they were hitting everything. Iowa Lakes is like Marshalltown — all perimeter players. They were shooting the ball well.” During Saturday’s loss, the Spartans played most of the contest with five players due to Troutwine’s four fouls just 10 minutes into the ballgame and Nicole Meyer picking up her third foul midway through the first half. Wright led the Spartans with 16 points against Iowa Lakes. Up next for Southwestern (4-11 overall, 1-3 ICCAC) is a road game at Ellsworth (8-10 overall, 2-4 ICCAC). Starting school on Aug. 23, or earlier, is a good idea.
I agree, it prevents school from lasting too far into June.
I disagree, it is too early, especially if it starts before the end of the Iowa State Fair.
School should be year-round
