DMACC men bounce Spartans, 63-46

BOONE — The Southwestern men never got untracked in a 63-46 loss to No. 13-ranked Des Moines Area Community College Wednesday night. “We didn’t show up to play,” said Spartan coach Jerry Drymon. “Our effort was better in the second half, but we couldn’t make shots at that point.” While DMACC (19-5) is a half-game ahead of Ellsworth for third place in the conference at 7-3, Southwestern (14-10) slipped farther behind in fifth at 4-6 heading into Saturday’s 4 p.m. home game against North Iowa Area Community College. “We’re one game ahead of Iowa Central,” Drymon said. “We can’t afford to not play well in a game from here on out. We’re in a situation, if we don’t get after it, we could find ourselves in a bad position in March.” Sophomore center Anthony Davis scored 14 of his team-high 16 points in the first half for Southwestern. DMACC 6-2 guard Brent Jackman scored 22 points. DMACC (63) — Brent Jackman 9 1-1 22, Rodney Grace 7 0-2 14, Mark Lacey 5 0-0 14, Willi Estrella 1 4-8 6, Grant Burns 1 2-3 4, Vince Marshall 1 0-0 2, Cy Wynn 0 1-2 1. Starting school on Aug. 23, or earlier, is a good idea.
I agree, it prevents school from lasting too far into June.
I disagree, it is too early, especially if it starts before the end of the Iowa State Fair.
School should be year-round
