Spartan women fall to DMACC

BOONE — DMACC controlled Wednesday’s ICCAC league women’s basketball game against Southwestern as the Bears rolled to a 91-46 win. “We didn’t carry out our game plan,” said Spartan coach Buck Scheel. “They pressed like they did last time and we knew what we needed to do, and we didn’t carry out our actions.” In the meeting in Creston, the Spartans trailed by just three at halftime. This time around, DMACC built a 51-23 halftime advantage. Up next for Southwestern (4-21 overall, 1-12 ICCAC) is a home game against NIACC. DES MOINES — On a fourth-quarter buzzer-beater, the Exira Vikettes defeated Mount Ayr in the Class 1A state championship game March 5 at Wells Fargo Arena. Among those attending the game was Peggy Whitson, NASA chief of astronauts and a Mount Ayr graduate.
