Spartan golf shows improvement

FORT DODGE — Southwestern golf coach Ron “Fox” Clinton had a lot to be encouraged with after Monday’s Iowa Central Invite at the Fort Dodge Country Club. After shooting a team score of 381 last Monday on day two of the Viking Golf Classic held in Fort Dodge, the Spartans came back this time with a 361 — placing 10th of 11 teams. “We played from the tips and the ball was played down in the fairway and the rough,” said Clinton. “It was a good golfing experience for us.” Former Creston/O-M golfer Doug North led the Spartans with an 83, including a front nine 38. Scott Van Ahn and Jack Bissell each had counting scores with 92s while Jon Peasley shot a personal best 94. IOWA CENTRAL INVITATIONAL APRIL 14 Team Standings — 1. Kirkwood Blue 301; 2. Starting school on Aug. 23, or earlier, is a good idea.
I agree, it prevents school from lasting too far into June.
I disagree, it is too early, especially if it starts before the end of the Iowa State Fair.
School should be year-round
