
Freeman to leave Iowa basketball teamIOWA CITY (AP) — Junior guard Tony Freeman is leaving the University of Iowa basketball team. Associate athletic director Fred Mims announced on Friday that Freeman had asked for and recieved permission to leave the Hawkeyes. In 22 games last year after returning from a pre-season stress fracture he averaged 13.8 points per game and 3.1 rebounds. Iowa coach Todd Lickliter says Freeman was a hardworker and says the team wishes his him the best. Freeman will have one season of eligibility. August 9, 2010 The McKinley Park Festival kicked off at 8:30 a.m. Saturday July 31 with a kids fishing contest. More than 150 kids participated in the contest. A bike parade ensued at 1 p.m. The parade was judged and two boys and two girls received new bikes. The Bill Riley Talent Show took place at the bandshell at 2 p.m. First-place contestants advanced to perform at the Iowa State Fair.
