Frosh-soph team falls at Atlantic

ATLANTIC — A Creston/O-M freshman-sophomore team fell 26-0 at Atlantic Monday night. The only other game played on Creston/O-M’s JV football schedule was a loss to Chariton on Sept. 1. “For our sophomores who played most of the game, it was really only their second game of the season,” said Creston/O-M coach Steve Birchard. “I think the execution showed that on both sides of the ball.” Creston/O-M lost two fumbles and had a pass intercepted in the first half. “We were unable to sustain a drive due to the turnovers and untimely penalties,” Birchard said. “With the exception of a punt return for a touchdown, we played a good second half.” Atlantic led 19-0 at halftime and added a 70-yard punt return in the third period. Activities Director Jeff Bevins said a freshman-sophomore game will be played Oct. 13 at home against Winterset, but no JV or 9-10 game will be played against Harlan on Oct. 20. Starting school on Aug. 23, or earlier, is a good idea.
I agree, it prevents school from lasting too far into June.
I disagree, it is too early, especially if it starts before the end of the Iowa State Fair.
School should be year-round
