LEON — After trailing by 50 pins after the second individual game, the Nodaway Valley girls went for the win.
The Wolverines overcame the deficit and took a 7-pin lead into the final game of Baker.
Nodaway Valley scored 117 in the fifth Baker game, but Central Decatur put up a score of 145 to win 1,925-1,904 Saturday.
Katey Havens showed her consistency for the Wolverines, bowling games of 148 and 149. Her two-game total of 297 was best on the squad.
Joceline Holliday bowled the best single game for Nodaway Valley — 158.

LEON — Tyler Buckner led the Wolverine boys in their 2,360-2,160 defeat to Central Decatur.
Buckner bowled a 213 in the second game and totaled 362 in the two games combined.
“It’s still early in the season, so more reps in practice will make them even better before the holiday break,” Nodaway Valley coach Cory Thompson said.

CRESTON — The Mount Ayr boys edged Lenox 1,877-1,847 Saturday in a match hosted by Mount Ayr at Panther Lanes.
Ethan Pollock led the Raiders with a high game of 191 and a two-game total of 347.
The Tigers were led by Jeremy Barrens, who bowled a high game of 202 and had a two-game total of 362.
“This meet proved to me that this team has the ability to compete with any team in our conference,” Mount Ayr coach Mike Zarr said.
Mount Ayr led by 29 pins after the first individual game and 70 pins heading into Baker. Lenox won the Baker Rotation 680-640 to cut the final margin to 30.

CRESTON — Samantha Haidsiak bowled two games over 200 (212 and 203), but it was not enough to give the Tigers victory over the Raiderettes Saturday.
Tara Adams’ two-game total of 310 led Mount Ayr to a 1,849-1,671 victory over Lenox at Panther Lanes.
Mount Ayr’s score in this first meet was only one pin lower than its best meet last season.
“It was a very good way to start off the season,” Mount Ayr coach Mike Zarr said. “We have a tough conference and need to improve more to stay at the top.”
