Robert L. Pettegrew, 82, of Republic, Mo., formerly of Creston, died July 1, 2009, at his home.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday July 7, at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut St., Springfield, Mo. Memorial graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 10, in Springfield National Cemetery, 1702 E. Seminole, Springfield, Mo. Open visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

Exira defeats Mount Ayr for 1A state championship
DES MOINES — On a fourth-quarter buzzer-beater, the Exira Vikettes defeated Mount Ayr in the Class 1A state championship game March 5 at Wells Fargo Arena. Among those attending the game was Peggy Whitson, NASA chief of astronauts and a Mount Ayr graduate.
