Names, details released in Lenox accident

Iowa State Patrol has released names and a few details of the accident that happened south of Lenox Wednesday morning.

According to the Iowa State Patrol report, Allison Powell, 14, of Clearfield was taken by air ambulance to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, and Mae Powell, 8, of Clearfield and Robin McMullen, 36, of Gravity were being treated at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston for injuries sustained in the accident. The report said, Allison Powell, driving a 1996 Buick north on Highway N64 at mile marker 20, crossed the center line and collided with a 1999 Ford Explorer, driven south on N64 by McMullen. The vehicle driven by Powell came to rest on the center line of the highway and McMullen's vehicle went into a ditch.

No other details are being reported at this time.

The McKinley Park Festival kicked off at 8:30 a.m. Saturday July 31 with a kids fishing contest. More than 150 kids participated in the contest. A bike parade ensued at 1 p.m. The parade was judged and two boys and two girls received new bikes. The Bill Riley Talent Show took place at the bandshell at 2 p.m. First-place contestants advanced to perform at the Iowa State Fair. And at 10 p.m., the Creston Shooters delivered an 18-minute fireworks display.
