Lenox falls in championship game

Armstrong-Ringsted defeated No. 1-ranked Lenox 49-30 this afternoon in the Eight-Man state championship at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.

The fifth-ranked Mustangs (13-1) were led by junior quarterback Spencer Clausen who went 9-12 in the game for 244 yards and three touchdowns. Senior split end Craig Tigges was on the receiving end of all three Clausen touchdown passes, including a 43-yarder with 6:12 left in the third quarter. Tigges also had touchdown grabs of 33 and 28 yards on his way to a five-reception, 179-yard day.

Armstrong-Ringsted led Lenox (13-1) 13-9 at halftime before outscoring the Tigers 27-13 in the third quarter. With 10:20 left in the quarter, an Armstrong-Ringsted defender turned an attempted screen play by Lenox into a 44-yard interception return for a touchdown.

On offense, Tyler Tonderum, Armstrong-Ringsted's prolific senior running back, finished the game with 19 carries for 141 yards. Junior tight end Dylan Douglas led the way for Lenox with four receptions for 117 yards and two touchdowns.

The loss ends a 23-game winning for Lenox, which went 26-2 over the last two seasons.

Starting school on Aug. 23, or earlier, is a good idea.
I agree, it prevents school from lasting too far into June.
I disagree, it is too early, especially if it starts before the end of the Iowa State Fair.
School should be year-round
