Clean up your act

From Mary Jane Weisshaar

Creston

So, Mr. King considers the “attacks and allegations” against him as nonsense and as coming from members of the “uninformed public.” Hmmmm – I’m sure that he is going to get Attorney General Tom Miller down here to investigate these issues! Maybe he needs to call in his high-powered attorneys from Des Moines, Matt and Jim Brick and their two assistants, so the county can once again pay for Mr. King’s paranoia!

Mr. King, you need to clean up your own act if you fear that morale in the courthouse is down. Stop trying to micromanage the other elected officials’ departments. And when that doesn’t work, don’t intimidate them by threatening to cut their budget or an employee’s position.

Mr. King says he wants everything open, but when we taxpayers start asking for public information so we can be an informed public, he calls a press conference and tells us what a good guy he is, while he belittles anyone who would dare disagree with him.

Why won’t the other supervisors stand up to this man? Why on earth would they put Mike King back as chairman – come on guys, if you are smart enough to be a supervisor, you are surely capable of taking your turn as chairman. What have you been doing this past year if King is the only one who supposedly knows what is going on? It is time you implement a rotation system for chairman and eliminate the possibility of one individual becoming too powerful.

Hmmmm – here is another thought – maybe it is time for the people who pay for their salaries and perks to take back control in the voting booth next November.

Starting school on Aug. 23, or earlier, is a good idea.
I agree, it prevents school from lasting too far into June.
I disagree, it is too early, especially if it starts before the end of the Iowa State Fair.
School should be year-round
