The Rev. Jerome “Jerry” Edward Leininger, 74, of Corning, died Jan. 30, 2010.

Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lenox. Bishop Richard Pates, the Rev. Dan Siepker and the Rev. Tan Tran will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Creston with military honors by Theodore J. Martens VFW Post No. 1797. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corning with a 6:30 p.m. Christian Prayer Service. Pearson-Coen-Beaty Family Funeral Service, 701 Seventh St., Corning is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family.

The McKinley Park Festival kicked off at 8:30 a.m. Saturday July 31 with a kids fishing contest. More than 150 kids participated in the contest. A bike parade ensued at 1 p.m. The parade was judged and two boys and two girls received new bikes. The Bill Riley Talent Show took place at the bandshell at 2 p.m. First-place contestants advanced to perform at the Iowa State Fair. And at 10 p.m., the Creston Shooters delivered an 18-minute fireworks display.
