SWCC men, women empty at DMACC

BOONE — The Southwestern women's basketball team fell to DMACC, 75-55, Wednesday evening, their second loss to the Bears this winter. The Bears had four players in double figures, led by Katlyn Wood and Skylar Johnson with 13 points each.

"We didn't show up to play. We weren't really ever in the game physically or mentally," Southwestern coach Buck Scheel said. "It was one of those things, I was waiting to see if someone would take over and feed of them. It never happened. They out worked us."

For the Spartans, Claire Youngclaus had 14 points and Sara Lincoln tossed in 12 points. Southwestern moves to 5-16 overall and will face AIB Saturday, a winnable game for the Spartans, Scheel said. That game starts at 2 p.m. in Des Moines.

"AIB is playing pretty well," Scheel said. "They lost to Marshalltown by just four points last week and Marshalltown is No. 10 in the nation. It all depends on who shows up to play and who doesn't. We have to come out and play."

The Soutwestern men lost 60-52 to nationally ranked DMACC Wednesday. They move to 10-12 overall and 1-7 inside the ICCAC. They too play Saturday, traveling to Clinton for a 4 p.m. game.

Starting school on Aug. 23, or earlier, is a good idea.
I agree, it prevents school from lasting too far into June.
I disagree, it is too early, especially if it starts before the end of the Iowa State Fair.
School should be year-round
