Corning Center for the Fine Arts artist in residence Zack Jones paints during last year’s En Plein Air, part of the fourth annual Arts and Cars festival held in Corning’s central park beginning Friday. The phrase En Plein Air is French, meaning painting in the open air. For a complete schedule of events, see the information graph above. (Contributed photo)

Beginning Friday, the streets in Corning will bustle with foot traffic as locals partake in the fourth annual Arts and Cars festival. The event, hosted by Adams County Chamber of Commerce with assistance by Corning Center for the Fine Arts, among others, offers an extensive lineup of entertainment.

“People are so busy with their lives, especially in the summer, but this is an event that the entire family can attend and they’ll have fun,” said Lindsey Hogan, Main Street Board president. “This event started five years ago as an artsy nook, but has turned into a two-day festival.”

The festival kicks off 10 a.m. Friday with a chamber coffee at CCFA, 706 Davis Ave. Events run nonstop until Saturday evening. The races at Adams County Speedway, beginning 7 p.m. Saturday, will conclude the festival.

Starting school on Aug. 23, or earlier, is a good idea.
I agree, it prevents school from lasting too far into June.
I disagree, it is too early, especially if it starts before the end of the Iowa State Fair.
School should be year-round
