A grass fire was reported 4:24 p.m. Thursday at 1009 Crest Dr.

According to a Creston Fire report, firefighters responded to a call of a yard on fire. Creston Fire Captain Gary Thompson said the fire was caused by not properly clearing leaves and debris from the area where homeowner Alycia Besch was burning pine needles and leaves in a fire ring. Besch extinguished the fire by the time firefighters arrived. Creston fire personnel investigated to make sure the fire was out.

No damage was reported.


A car fire was reported 5:03 p.m. Thursday at 619 N. Cherry St.

According to a Creston Fire report, the engine compartment of a 1989 Lincoln Town Car owned by Robert Blanchard caught fire. Upon arrival, the engine compartment was fully engulfed in flames.

Loss estimate is $1,500.
